An ex girlfriend invited me to that concert - but I was too foolish to swallow my pride and go with her and her family.
What a mistake to make...
Are they underrated? I didn't know that.
But a group that has songs like We Are The Champions, We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody To Love and Who Wants To Live Forever which are are still very much remembered.
You'd be surprised. The other day I mentioned Freddie Mercury to one of my students. He said "Who?" I said "You know, the singer in Queen". He said "Who?" That's when I took a poll. Out of 30 high school kids in class then, 3 had heard of Queen! Now that's a little scary.
Well, I hope your student's have heard of John, Paul, George and Ringo. If they haven't, now that's really scary.
Prepare to be scared! A couple of months ago I mentioned the Beatles to a class. One kid asked me who the Beatles were. I told them "you know..John, Paul, George, and Ringo". He replied, "Ringo? That's a funny name for a guy. What does he play?" Many of my students have no sense of history. They are clueless about Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple. They don't even know Vai, Satriani, or Nugent. It IS scary!
I play Queen full volume whenever I do housework. Love their music and envy you the concert.
