This Is Freaking Progress??????

I woke up this morning to the charming knocking on the front door by a workman from R.B. Baker Company. He said that they were going to tear out our concrete culvert and put in their stormwater system. This is a photo of them tearing out the old pipe. Lovely, isn't it? Our ditch managed to shunt water through several hurricanes and numerous tropical storms with no real problem. If their 'improved system' is as successful as it is in front of the subdivision down the street, we are going to flood every time it sprinkles.

That's why most of us moved to the 'Burbs. So we can be woken by heavy machinery at the crack of dawn.
Of course, Tricia. I don't know how we managed to live without this type of progress for the past 15 years I've been living out here. Thank heavens for concrete and heavy machinery. It keeps that pesky nature stuff away.
EEEEEEEK! When civil servants try to manage the effects of Mother Nature's activities, you wind up with Road Crews who never got over their toy trucks.
Truly, though, a bunch of beavers and a few poplar trees will set the whole thing aright.
